Durward Donavan Flora, of Alvin, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2025. He was 68 years old.

Donavan was born on June 28, 1957 to Durward and Peggy Flora in Alvin, Texas. He attended Alvin High School and was voted the “Most Handsome” in his class every year. Upon graduation Donavan married his high school sweetheart in 1976, Cynthia Ann Coman Flora.

Donavan is survived by: his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Cindy Flora, son, Donny Flora and wife Brandy, Cindy’s sisters, Cheryl Knape and Diana Tahtinen, and sister, Cheryl Loftin. Grandchildren include, Zane Flora and wife Kaitlyn, Charlie Ann Jeffers, Barrett Flora, and Rory Collins and wife Katherine. Donavan and Cindy are great-grandparents to Kinsley Pilkington, Rosemary Collins, and soon-to-arrive, Amelia Flora. Also included among Donavan’s “family” are Jonas Duncan, Gage Markham, Trisha Ryno, and Dolly Markham, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Donavan is preceded in death by his parents Durward and Peggy Flora, daughters Sommer Flora and Misty Flora-Jeffers.

Donavan was a life-long resident of Alvin, Texas. He was a devoted husband, family man, and dear friend to many. When you met Donavan, you knew immediately that you had a loyal friend for life. Donavan was a Godly man who shared his happy smile and joyful life with others. He was always willing to assist and give graciously to all.

Donavan took great pride in working for Amoco, Denbury, and Hillcorp Harvest throughout his professional years. He also enjoyed working for his family-owned excavating business. Donavan was once an active member of the fire and rescue team for Amoco and saved countless lives with his fearless service.

Donavan also enjoyed spending time outdoors. Whether it was hunting, fishing, boating, or the annual camping trip to the beach, Donavan took great pleasure surrounding himself with those he loved and the hobbies that allowed him to be with his family and friends.

Donavan’s memory will forever live in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. with Funeral Services beginning at 11:00 A.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546. Interment to follow at Confederate Cemetery, 998 Dickinson Rd., Alvin, TX 77511.
