50-Year Reunion: September 2024

Yes, our main reunion is in 2024! Please believe we have good reasons for this. Help us spread the word.

Reunion Dates: Thursday, September 26-Sunday, September 29, 2024

We have moved the Main Event indoors (Nolan Ryan Center) and our costs have gone up. Here are prices and deadlines for the Main Event on Saturday night. See below for how to sign up and pay.

  • Pay by August 1, 2024: $35 per person
  • Pay by August 31, 2024: $40 per person

Here are the events we have planned and the associated costs:

Thursday, September 26, 6 pm: Meet us on the patio at Bing Pizza (www.thebingpizzeriaanddrafthousetx.com, 1755 HIGHWAY 35 BYP N, Alvin, TX 77511).  You make your own food and drink purchases.

Friday, September 27, 11 am: Meet us at the Alvin Museum (housed in the old Post Office Building). Gay Roden Prevost is sponsoring this event, so you get in free. The Alvin Museum Society has done a bang up job of collecting interesting items, pictures, and stories from the history of Alvin. And at our age, we count as history! There will be a few special AHS exhibits as well. Afterward, we will lunch nearby (bring your money). The Museum is open till 3 pm, so if you can’t make it at 11, drop by before 3 to check out the exhibits.

Friday, September 27, 5:30 pm: It’s AHS Homecoming and we are going to meet at the Official AHS Homecoming Reception (details to come) and then sit together at the football game (7;00 pm). The Reception is free, but you have to purchase your own tickets for the game online beforehand. Tickets will be available August 1 at Alvin ISD (ALVIN, TX) Athletics (alvinisdathletics.com)  or Alvin High School Events and Tickets by GoFan. You will buy a general admission ticket and then we will reserve a section which will get marked off in the stands.

Saturday, September 28, morning time and meetup place TBA: Take a tour of the old campus. You may be able to spot something left from your time 50 years ago, but you will be amazed at what is new. This event is free! Afterward, we will all head to Dairy Land for a tortilla burger and Dr. Pepper (or whatever makes you happy).

Saturday, September 28, 6 -10 pm: This is our main reunion event. It will be held at the Nolan Ryan Center on the Alvin Community College campus. Dinner is catered by Joe’s BBQ. We will provide a keg and soft drinks. You may bring your own beer or wine, but spirits are not allowed inside. Bring a dessert to share, if you can. No need to sign up. Just bring something if it’s convenient. We will have music, both recorded and live. If you want to be part of the live music, let us know. See the costs at the top of this page.

Sunday, September 29, 9 am: Meet us at Kelley’s for breakfast for our last event of the weekend.

How to Sign Up and Pay for the Main Event

Email Mary Perez Montague at jrmontague@comcast.net   She will email you back with instructions for payment (check, Venmo, or Zelle). If you want to bring your guitar or bagpipes and regale us, let her know as well. If you don’t hear from her within a few days, please feel free to e-mail her again. Sometimes e-mails get lost in la la land!
