Jimmy Will “Chip” Heath Jr., 62, of Alvin, Texas, passed away after a lengthy illness on September 10, 2018.  He was born on June 28, 1956 in Fort Polk, Louisiana, to parents, Jim W. Heath and Dorothy Richmond. Chip resided in Alvin over 40 years.  He was an Alvin High School class of 1975 alumni. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy as a 2nd Class Sonarman.

Chip had many hobbies including fishing, camping and target practice with his longtime friend, Dave Purtee.  His interests were diversified, and he learned fly tying, custom rod building, crafting survival lanyards and bracelets, turkey calls, building cigar box guitars and custom long boards. He was a member of the “Fat Boyz” cycling club for several years, riding in the MS 150 and Tour De Braz, continuing for many years helping with a first aid station for the Tour De Braz.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ermon Richmond Sr. and Leona Richmond, William and Gladys Heath and Uncle William Bruce Heath.

Left to carry on many good memories are Chip’s wife, Toni Henry Heath, of Alvin; mother, Dot Richmond, of Alvin and father, Jim Heath; stepmother, Cecile Clausen of Buna; children, Zachary Heath, and Taron Heath and wife Ashley and his best little “buddy,” grandson, Dexter Heath, all of Alvin; brothers: “Chuck” Heath of Alvin, Jim Flanigan of San Antonio and  Mark Heath of Athens, Georgia; sisters, Christie Heath Goodman of Alvin and Jennifer Oetken of Richmond; and many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
