Mike Loy

Michael Wayne Loy, Sr., 62, passed away at Houston Methodist on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 30, 1957, in Baytown, Texas. He graduated from Alvin High School in 1975. After high school he declined opportunities to play professional baseball to pursue a career in the petrochemical industry, where he worked for 30+ years.

In 1986, he began learning the art of fastpitch pitching from Tim Timmons. Through softball they became best friends. Beginning with his oldest daughter, Stephanie, and continuing with the youngest, Leslie, he was able to coach hundreds of girls. Every girl who went through his program in its entirety, received college scholarships. His greatest joy besides his family was getting a call that one of his girls had committed to college.

Though a die hard Houston Oilers fan, upon their move he became a die hard New England Patriots fan. He traveled with his son, Michael, all over the country to follow the team to various cities.

Michael is survived by his brother Doug and wife Tina; his daughter Stephanie and husband Kyle; his son Michael Jr. and wife Aisha; his daughter Leslie and fiance Chris; his 8 grandchildren Ryan and wife Emily, Aly, Kyler, Maryssa, Holden, Tigerlily, Cataleya, Michy; and a great granddaughter on the way named Molly.
